The Five Star Stories began with an illustrated story of only about ten pages. An editor took notice of the world Mamoru Nagano had created, and Nagano first gained experience drawing a serialized manga with FOOL for THE CITY. Then, in 1986, The Five Star Stories finally began serialization. Forty years later, that small collection of images had grown into a vast story world with more than 10 million copies in circulation.
